In a small update, it seems "Shirley Jefferson" the hawk that found its way into the Library of Congress (and our hearts) was released into the wild today according to the Washington Post. I know where I was when I first learned of the hawk: it was a mild day, wind blowing slightly from the east. A chill was in the air and I held my jacket closer around me. Then my friend looked up from his lap top and said, "Hey, nerd. Check out this dumb fuckin' bird in the Library of Congress." Ah, memories.
