The Jacksonville, FL city council has recommended the city's libraries close on Mondays. The closure would save nearly 2.1 million dollars, the council says. The idea of closure is not a new one, as library systems across the nation have cut back services in an effort to save money. Then the reporter from the News4Jax.com went out and got him some authoritative quotes:
"I don't think it's going to save that much money," said Rick Watts, who was playing a piano in front of the main library downtown Friday.
Library patrons like Julie Edwards, who uses the library for home-schooling her children, said she understands what the city is trying to do. "It can kind of go both ways. We have all the other days," she said.
