Aubrey Jenkins, 47, could not give one single damn about the Banned Library’s newly acquired collection of audio books. At least as far as anyone could understand. The collection, purchased with a grant from the National Federation for Blind Americans, has been celebrated by the blind and elderly members of the community. Jenkins does not share their enthusiasm and had this to say:
“Fingers moving, hands. Wild gesture. Something about a sunrise or maybe a coyote. I can’t make this out, he’s going too fast. Is there such a thing as Spanish Sign Language? Cause I think that’s what he’s doing. Hell, I dunno what he’s saying but he seems pretty pissed about something. Can he write it down?”

Evan Banned, director of the library, has promised to get more materials for the deaf, including more large print books. Jenkins nodded when told more books would be bought for the deaf, giving staff the belief that he could give a damn about that.
