So my glasses broke. I got out of the shower after jogging with Cassidy Wednesday morning and the sons of bitches just snapped right at the brim, where the wire meets the frame. Total pain in the ass because I know I put my spare right there, you know that place? That place that you will never forget even if you are blind and flailing your arms around like a Rancor? (That’s a Star Wars joke, for any of you non-nerds out there.)
So I find my spare pair, but they haven’t been worn in over a decade. I felt like Indiana Jones brushing off an artifact or that movie Timeline based on the Crichton book where they find the professor’s glasses WHERE NO GLASSES SHOULD HAVE EVER BEEN!! I put them on and instantly have a splitting headache because of the change. Not only are they rounder and bigger, but the prescription is off by a hair and they have slight scratches on the right lens. My eyes keep focusing on the scratch, then another thing, then the scratch... it was painful.
I am assuming most of my readers have glasses because... librarians. Stereotypical, but whatev, use your eyes more, you 20/20 people. Wear the sumbitches out.
Anyway, I went to the doctor on Thursday, got my prescription, asked about contacts and Lasik. I’m a good candidate for both, she said. I have a slight astigmatism, but otherwise am a perfect nearsighted mess. Has anyone else out there switched from glasses to contacts? Issues? Anyone done Lasik? Was it fun?
New glasses should be in around Monday or Tuesday!
