Well, hello there.
I never know how to start these things, these “journal entries.” Not like that ever helped, admitting the problem does not automatically solve it. I guess I will just dive in, go about telling whomever out there is listening what’s been going on, how life is working.
As you may have guessed, the Geraldine Godson Banned Memorial Library and Farmer’s Market (the Banned Library) of Bannville, Mississippi is still closed for business.
Business? Is that what you say to refer to a library? “Patronage” seems wrong, but whatever. Library business is a no.
I do not want to go over all that. Just bad business. There’s that word again…
Dad and Mom packed up months ago to live in Santa Fe, New Mexico. Summers are not as bad here, no humidity to get in the bones, and the winters are mild. They may come back here for Christmas or Thanksgiving, but at the moment I am alone in our old house. Seems strange being back here. After the library, I needed a place to stay, so…
It’s lonely. Quiet with only an old dog named Xena and a bunch of feral cats. Don’t know what to do. Dad would tame the cats, sit there with a plate of food until they came and ate. Patient. Maybe that’s what I need to do. Be patient, anyway. The cats can fend for themselves.
I guess we shall see, huh?
Until then, I’ll keep putting fingers to keys, sharing the news and the entertainment. Gathering around 60,000 words in a little tale I am calling “Bloody 98.” We shall see if it becomes anything, but I am hopeful.
Maybe I will feed those cats.
P.S. For being awesome, here's kittens playing.
