After voters put down an excess levy to fund libraries and schools, the Kanawha County library system has until July to find $3 million or as many as six of the county libraries may close. The levy would have increased taxes to citizens and supported the county schools around $21 million along with the $3 million to the libraries, but voters united nearly three to one against the funding. This is following a 40 percent cut to the library budget after a court ruling earlier this year stated the schools no longer had to support the libraries.
So let's turn this super negative showing of "f-you" West Virginia has shown to its own education system into a positive. Where can the library systems find funding? Starbucks? Get a cafe in each location? Or would West Virginia voters become scared by the mermaid logo and burn down each location in effigy against the murderous sea sending its minions to the mountain-land? We shall see.
