Two reports were found today about librairans going to NASA's Kennedy Space Center in Florida to witness a launch. Megan Crandall-Cooper of the Sherrard Public Library in Iowa and Ashley Crace of Kentucky are traveling to the Florida base to watch the launch of MAVEN, a satellite that will orbit Mars.
One must ask, why these librarians? What do they have in common? Do they share a common quirk of the human genome that has allowed them to be selected to witness such an important event, such as the ability to watch things get really bright and then go fast like a phoenix from hell, rising into the inky blackness of eternity, a dot on the sky screaming into the stars? Or were they just, like, a name in a hat? The universe and NASA, man. Whoa.
