Summary (Spoiler Alert)
Graff and Anderson, AKA The Shadowmen until now, talk about how badass Ender is and how they should screw him over. Anderson says he may go over Graff’s head, but then does not.
Ender is now in the Rat army, a disorganized group that expects results and not much else. Ender gets to participate in a real battle for once, and changes the landscape of battle after being commanded to throw himself at the enemy. The enemy does not expect suicidal behavior from the other army and Ender comes off looking pretty good after taking out a few surprised troops.
Ender keeps practicing with the young group, but the older boys begin to harass the younger students. Ender solves the problem by picking a fight in zero gravity and beating the living shit outta four of them.
Back in his bunk, Ender plays the giant game but finds his brother’s picture is in the game.
- Ender has firmly learned that violence is the answer. Can you think of a time when beating the living shit outta someone would have stopped them from bothering you?
- Is Ender better than the other students or just better at setting himself up in weird situations?
- Do you like to play video games after beating the living shit outta somebody? Which ones?
- What was that shit at the end with his brother’s face? Weird huh?
