I’ve got ten minutes until the chicken comes off the grill, so I need something to do. Here’s the break down of what I been up to and what I thought about all that and, man, yes, I agree, this blog has sunk down to that level.
I finished Stephen King’s On Writing. If you like to write at all, even silly little blog posts like this one, check out this book. Written with Kings signature laid back style, this book is insightful and touching as King gets into his own life and times including gushing about his wife and a graphic description of his accident. Pick this book up.
I am not going to see Man of Steel. I have little interest in Superman as a character and feel that Zach Snyder could not make him interesting if he put Kal El in a schoolgirl outfit and made him fight Nazi t-rexes. Okay, I might go see the Cross Dressing Superman play out Band of Brothers while in Jurassic Park.
I did go see This is the End, the apocalypse comedy starring Seth Rogan, Jay Baruchel, James Franco and everybody else from their movies ever. If you liked Superbad and Pineapple Express, get your ass off the couch and go out to the theater. Make sure your girlfriend brings her big ass purse so you can sneak in a few beers and you should be fine for the slower parts. Self referential humor mixed with pot humor mixed with violence and horror. Good time.
I culled down my podcast listening and am going to try to switch to audiobooks most of the time. Right now I am only behind on WTF with Marc Maron (great interviews with Alison Brie, Gillian Jacobs and The Nerdist (Kyle Kinane and Tony Hale, although there’s a Rick Moranis interview staring at me).
If you like writing and comics, check out the Nerdist Writer’s Panel. Host Ben Blacker mostly discusses television writing, but they just added a comics portion that comes out on Saturdays that gives insights more into the characters and the history than the writing, but is still worth a listen.
Haven’t read a goddam thing worth talking about. Some would say that’s everything I do. I cry when they say that, yet agree with them.
If you have not been following me on twitter and the accounts connected to it (Instagram and Vine) you will know I now have a dog and 3.5 cats in my life.
The dog is a mutt shepherd/pyrenees that was raised outside with goats and brought into town so she could be close to people while her owners are away and I am house sitting. Her name is Xena, she likes dog food and long walks to the neighbor’s yard to poop. She hates Grey Cat and thunderstorms due to being left in the woods with the goats during Hurricane Katrina (she would not get in the car). She also really misses her master (my dad) and gets very excited when I crank his car to keep the engine working.
The 3.5 cats are:
- Gracie (long hair black, inside/outside),
- Boy Cat (short hair black and white, outside),
- Girl Cat (short hair greyish/calico, outside)
- Grey Cat (short hair grey, who cares?)
Not much on their personalities as they seem only to have personalities when I have food and/or am trying to read. Grey Cat gets a point five as a ranking because nobody likes him/her, not even enough to assign gender, although assigning gender is a personal thing that we do not like to think about. Unless you mount each other. Ahem, Boy Cat and Girl Cat.
And that’s it in the land of Evan.
Shit, I think I burnt the chicken.
Update: I DID NOT BURN THE CHICKEN!
