I went into work today, and whoa, whoa EVERYBODY CALM THE F&^K DOWN! I know it is my vacation but I needed to get some stuff done, okay? Man, you guys are tough. Not even mad that I’m working on Sunday... just mad. Wow.
Annnnnnd scene. I call that one “Evan pretends to hear the Internet.” I wrote it. It’s pretty personal to me. Already off-Broadway by virtue of the fact that it is 2,000 miles as the elephant walks from Broadway St., New York, New York City.
So that was crazy. Let’s see what happened today:
Hey, they did it for the Bible, why not take the ambiguity out of Shakespeare?
Example: Romeo thought, “I’ma hit that ass,” and stabbed Tybalt.
How do you feel about rewriting Shakespeare as prose? Has it been done? Will it take away from the original text? Is this another dumbing down of culture for profit? Let me know what you think!
I found out I share a fascination of lost gloves on the street with Tom Hanks, so I got that going for me.
How about you guys? Do you like anything weird or strange? You don’t have to be famous.

I finished the audiobook of the first and second Discworld books, The Color of Magic and The Light Fantastic. Very well read by Nigel Planer, these books are something I have wanted to delve into for a long time. I had wanted to read them out right, but found an opportunity to get them cheap and have ample opportunity with my 30+ minute commute to listen. Highly recommend for anyone into dry British absurd humor, fantasy novels, or both.
Anybody else read these? There’s like, 30 books in this series, does anybody have a “preferred reading order?” Where do I go next with Pratchett?
Click here to read complaints old school monks wrote in margins while copying texts. Here’s a few of the best:
“Writing is excessive drudgery. It crooks your back, it dims your sight, it twists your stomach and your sides.”
“As the harbor is welcome to the sailor, so is the last line to the scribe.”
“This is sad! O little book! A day will come in truth when someone over your page will say, ‘The hand that wrote it is no more.’”
I think that sums up my own feelings about writing and editing at the moment. I am working on a few fiction works, nothing really for the site, and know every feeling.
If two people find happiness in this shitty world, that should be celebrated not legislated. It makes me feel bad that anyone, especially the courts, feel they should get involved with personal relationships.
That’s about as political as this website will ever get.
Okay, that’s all I have to get to today. I hope everyone at ALA will be careful traveling. I have the week off, so I may be in and out. I hope to get a lot done, but I really think I’m gonna do nothing but finish off that first season of Fringe I have been hacking away at.
Anybody seen anything they care to talk about? Did I miss something from today? Don’t be shy, I don’t bite commenters. Much.
