“I remember the librarian carting in that giant box all by herself,” said Elias Wood, Banned County’s oldest resident at his last visit to the Banned Library, "It came in like King Kong."
Wood made a weekly trip down to the library every Friday and is marveled at the changes that have happened in his sixty-nine years on this earth.
“It seems like it was just yesterday they brought that first computer in here. I was there, sitting in that chair reading a Highlights magazine. 1983. Said it was an Apple. We just laughed, called it that ‘fruity machine,’” Wood said, wiping a tear from his eye, “We thought the card catalog would last forever. Nothing lasts forever, young man.”
Wood was allowed to wander the stacks one last time before being taken to the edge of town and released into the wild as is our custom just before your seventieth life day. May the dark force in the wood be with you and give you a swift end, Elias Wood.
