#10 on ALA's Top Eleven for 2018
2016 - Texas - Challenged with complaints that the book promotes "perversion" and the "gay lifestyle" at the Hood County Library in Granbury. The Hood County Library Advisory Board voted to retain the book.
2018 - Illinois - Challenged to be relocated to the adult section by a husband and wife with support of the conservative Illinois Family Institute after their 3-year-old daughter picked it off a West Chicago Public Library shelf. The library board voted to keep the book in the youth collection at a meeting where approximately 150 people attended.
2019 - Iowa - A coalition of conservative and evangelical community members challenged with three other books at Orange City's public library on the grounds that the library was distributing LGBTQ materials to children with tax dollars. One religious activist checked out the four books, burned them live on Facebook, and faced criminal misdemeanor mischief charges. All titles were retained and fundraises were held to replace the books.
