The book hits pretty hard today. Sure there's regular school shootings now and bullying has changed to a more passive global spectacle rather than the targeted abuse of one kid on one kid, but the feelings of isolation and public ridicule remain. While the shy introverted religious kid has a youtube or twitch following now, they still remain quiet and uniformed about basic sanitary habits. The themes of Carrie resonate still because, shit, growing up sucks.
Terry Pratchett wrote several books on belief but in this one he tackles the biggest aspect of belief: Hope. What else can come from a crazy assassin with a baby face and an evil heart being hired to kill Santa Claus? When the symbol of the season of death is taken away, who else but Death incarnate can slip in and take up the sled?

n this installment in the cornfield stalking murder clown series, our heroes Jerri, Cole, and Rust are putting on a movie about the tragic events of the first book. The one where all their friends died. Series protagonist Quinn is absent, presumed dead, so we add in Sabrina as the actress attempting to embody Quinn on screen and later during the murder spree. Add in the movie's cast of clown-food it's all Murder! Corn! and Action! as trauma and healing meet chainsaws and flamethrowers.
According to my Goodreads, I read 42 books in 2025. According to my notebook, I read 51. I've never been good at using Goodreads and it's kinda a garbage site anyway. So, I read paper books, kindle books, audio books from the library on Libby, and probably a shampoo bottle or two while in the shower. Here's the ones the love in my life said I would not shut up about.
