Best Movies I Saw 2025
According to my Letterboxd, I saw 210 movies in 2025. Of those movies, I rated a bunch pretty high, but when I started looking over the list I really only had a dozen or so I want to say something about (or as the love in my life says I would not shut up about). Add in some honorable mentions and here's that list:
Favorite movies I have something to say about:
Wake Up Dead Man - A damn fine murder mystery with something to say. I loved watching this in the theater and on streaming.
Hamnet - A heart breaking human story that just so happens to be the better compliment to Shakespeare in Love. Cried watching this.
Black Phone 2 - A fun horror film homaging everything I grew up loving about monster movies but adding a winter aesthetic that made it alien and interesting.
Death of a Unicorn - A wacky fairy tale full of blood and commentary that let neither get in the way.
Honey Don't - Something in my soul loves a trashy, sexy, violent pulp story. A-List stars delving into debauchery and casual grit is my jam. Many whiskey soaked viewings of this are in my future.
Freaky Tales - If you see no other movie to understand my soul, check this wild little story out. I had just as much fun researching all the little in-jokes as I did pointing them out to myself with half a bottle of whiskey in me.
