Newsletter: Student Loan Forgiveness and Raccoons
Before we begin, here's a pic of a new family of raccoons that have been coming to story time each afternoon. We'll burn you at the stake before we chase these babies off. The library is for the children.
Test results from the doctor, grades back from any class I have ever taken including my master's thesis, nothing has felt as good as the email that said student loans are forgiven. For those not aware, library school costs money. A good bit of it for a master's in library and information science. For that degree, a librarian gets several mid-paying jobs that guarantee public service over riches. After 120 payments, that sword is no longer dangling and doubts fill the space. What if this current administration pulls that away like they have so many other promises and protections because a class so far above libraries and those they serve think they deserve more.
The revolution will start under a mountain of debt imposed on those who have never felt the sting of it. May it come swift and painless for those on the bottom and brutal for those who live high above. The fall should not be only for fiction or a historical record that records their names and while they leave nothing else. Some left libraries and great works, but most billionaires leave documentation of horror and nonsesne and useless spawn capable of nothing that perpetuates the cycle.
The library will be closed for the Labor Day holiday, September 7th. The day this posts. We do not plan well.

Children's Corner - What's happening in the children's department this week!
Story Time - This week's theme is revolution! Join us for readings from the Anarchist's Cookbook, 1984, and Curious George. Every weekday at noon, 3pm, and 5pm.
Back to School Share-out - Every day after school we invite our students and teachers to come and let us know their experiences. We have converted a section of the children's department for decompression, violence, whatever may come! Every weekday until 6pm.
Picture Day Display - Do you have a school picture that you love? One you hate? Do we have a display for you! Bring in your school day photo and we'll tack it to the board for display all September. We also scrounged around for photos from your librarians and from famous people! See Circulation Library Brenda when she was 13 years old, Reference Librarian Sean when he was 10, and celebrities such as Miley Cyrus, Billy Bob Thronton, and Alexander the Great as they posed for school day photos!

Governmental Health Lies of Yore - presented by the Banned Community College, Prof. Steve Hystarion will take you through the history of how governments from the dawn of time have lied to everyone. From leeches to vaccines, come check it out Tuesday, Sept 8, 6pm in the Library Meeting Room.
Garfield Shipping Container - In 2019, a French citizen led authorities to a shipping container wedged in a fisher reachable only at low tide and solved a thirty year old mystery. Garfield phone parts still washed ashore, but now they knew where they came from. Hear from Garfield himself this Wednesday, Sept 9, in the Library Meeting Room.
Notable US Monuments Demolished in the Last 250 Years - presented by the Banned Community College, Prof. Steve Hystarion will spend the afternoon taking us through all the things about the North American continent that are never coming back. Thursday, Sept 10, 6pm in the Library Meeting Room

Circulation Station - What we've been reading/watching
Movie: Coyote Vs Acme (2026) - A fun Looney Tunes movie with a good message of damn the corporations
Book: Clown in a Cornfield 4: Lights! Camera! Frendo! by Adam Cesare - We're making a movie based on the first book and people are dying! Again! By clown! Corn!
Comic: Fantastic Four Annual (1963) #3 (1965) - The Wedding of Sue and Reed - A fun old school read where everyone shows up to fight everyone else.
Movie: Mona Lisa (1986) - Bob Hoskins navigates some dark waters of prostitution in this noir classic.
Movie: Finding Emily (2026) - A cute romcom that looks modern but feels like a throwback to when men and women tricked each other before falling in love.
Movie: Buddy (2026) - Surreal and madness ensuing while funny and gory. You will not watch children's entertainment the same way again.
Movie: Teenage Sex and Death at Camp Miasma (2026) - A commentary on sexual identity and problematic older movies as well as a fun look at exploitation.

Tech Serv's Stewpot - Could be a recipe or a random rant from a crazy person shoved in the back of the library and left alone too long!
Destroying property like Flock cameras is wrong, but everyone getting involved in community action to come together to spraypaint various annoyances in the community is a good thing! Clean up the trash.
And while at it, feed people! Y'all wanna make some food for a bunch of people, all you need to do is get some beef, a can of mushroom soup, tater tots, and shredded cheese. Maybe some onions and peppers if ya nasty. Brown that beef, throw in the onions and peppers if that's what you're doing. Give it a few minutes for the onions and peppers to cook, then DRAIN. God above some of you motherfuckers just mix in the rendered fat like it's your job and business is good. Let the beef sit for a minute, too. Needs some rest. Then mix that up with the can of soup and top with as many tater tots as you can fit. Dump the cheese on top of that and cook it in an oven for a while. Serve with other food you like.
