Movie Review: Coyote Vs Acme (2026)

A punk rock noir-themed attitude has been pushed through cinema the last decade or so, largely by the actions of the current evil empire and James Gun. Coyote vs Acme continues that community-minded, anti-authoritarian, anti-consumerist mindset. And it's damn funny.
Wile E Coyote has been blown up and squished one too many times. Putting his latest deposit in the teeth jar, he sees an ad for a crummy lawyer, Kevin Avery played well by Will Forte, who says he will fight back against the large global enterprise of the Acme corporation. The two of them along with a host of cartoon chaos then race though the next hour and a half of conspiracy, sex, violence and nonsense with wild abandon.
Every cartoon has been wounded by an Acme product. Avery represents a bunch of them, including Porky Pig the nude model, for often less than three hundred dollar settlements. You can see them on the law firm's website. As the film goes on, a wide -conspiracy is uncovered, bringing together everyone as Avery and Coyte fail more than then they succeed often in the very public courtroom. The opposing counsel, Buddy Crane (Cena), with backing of CEO Foghorn Leghorn, comes across as goofy yet menacing. Very good targets for the audience to rally against.
And that's the point of the movie. Fuck those rich bastards that see consumers as dollar signs. We learn Avery and Crain knew each other growing up as lawyers, but one settled on being the guy who settles while the other went corporate, mocking the speech impediments of those in lower positions to him (although Cena and Tweety is the funniest scene in the movie.) Leghorn matches that energy with humorous smooth southern charm using that old conman charm while being dark and cold when he needs to be. Representation matters, so it's nice to see heartless, useless captains of industry shown in such a stark light. What do they create in the world but misery and money, both things that will mean nothing when their anvil finally comes crashing down.
I do think it is funny this movie caused creatives to stand up to the evil action so corporate movie making has become. When Warner Brothers (a subsidiary of the evil Acme corporation) tried to trash this movie three years ago with several others, people finally said "Aw, man, stop it." Then some other company backed up a truck of money and here we are. Let's hope the general public sees this film and starts lighting dumpsters on fire.
